There’s something weird about having a dining table with a good view of a famous region like the Bay Area. I often read books while eating meals there. Sometimes the books have scenes set in local areas like San Francisco, Oakland, Emeryville, Alameda, etc. Whenever these scenes come up, I look out the window and say “Ah. Over there. Got it.”

I’m playing around with DF on this world. It’s billed as a near-perfect site: magma, some trees, plenty of iron, flux, sand, a brook, a bottomless chasm, even demon pits.
After getting established with a small working fort, I sent a miner out to go looking for the chasm by tunneling in a likely direction. This was really in my game log (click to embiggen):
Yeah. More as things develop.

Changed the oil in my bike yesterday. Funny how something that used to be so daunting is a simple little task now.
It starts on the first crank now, and shifts as smooth as butter (for some reason). Nice to hear that Honda purr.
Oh- I’m never buying oil in a 4 liter bottle again. You can tip out the contents of a small bottle pretty cleanly. Not so with a big jug.
